Creating an LGBTQ friendly practice

The American Medical Association shares tips for creating and LGBTQ-friendly practice. 

It's LGBTQ Pride Month, which is held in June to honor the Stonewall Riots. The Stonewall Inn was a bar in Greenwich Village. At the time, it was generally considered one of the few safe, welcoming places for New York's gay community. However, on June 28, 1969, the bar was unexpectedly raided by police, which sparked days of protest and kick started the LGBTQ-rights movement around the world.

Take pride in your practice

The American Medical Association has information about how to create an LGBTQ-friendly practice, including using a more inclusive patient intake form and following practice standards recommended by the LGBT Health Access Project, which is part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
